New Delhi, Aug 25: Two educators from Odisha—Basanta Kumar Rana and Tarun Kumar Dash—have been selected for the prestigious National Teachers’ Award 2025, the Ministry of Education announced today.
The award ceremony is scheduled for September 5, 2025, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, marking the celebration of Teachers’ Day, which honours the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a renowned philosopher, educator, and former President of India.
Basanta Kumar Rana, a teacher at the Government Upper Primary School, Kondel in Korkunda block, Malkangiri district, is recognised for his innovative teaching methods.
Tarun Kumar Dash, serving at PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya, Koraput, has also made significant contributions to education through his dedicated service.
As part of the honour, each teacher will receive a certificate of merit, a cash award of ₹50,000, and a silver medal.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi extended his heartfelt congratulations to the two teachers via a post on social media.
In his tweet (originally in Odia), he wrote: "Heartiest congratulations and best wishes to Odisha’s two teachers, Shri Basanta Kumar Rana and Shri Tarun Kumar Dash, selected for the prestigious National Teachers’ Award 2025.
