Bhubaneswar, Aug 28: A total of 50 teachers, including two from Odisha, have been selected for this year's National Teachers’ Awards, as announced by the Union Education Ministry on Tuesday.
The honored educators from Odisha are Dwiti Chandra Sahu, a teacher at Government High School Billesu in Rayagada, and Santosh Kumar Kar, a teacher at Jaya Durga High School in Narla Road, Kalahandi district. Both have been recognized for their outstanding contributions to the teaching profession.
President Droupadi Murmu will present the awards during a ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on September 5, coinciding with the birth anniversary of former President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, celebrated as Teacher’s Day.
The National Teachers’ Award includes a certificate of merit, a cash prize of Rs 50,000, and a silver medal.
