Malkangiri, March 15: Two top Mao-cadres who were the active members of the DKSZC under the South Bastar Division surrendered before the Malkangiri Police in Odisha on Friday.
The two ultras identified as Kadti Hura alias Samir and Ganfa Kartami alias Ganga who are the natives of Chhattisgarh, laid down guns and grenades before the Malkangiri SP to rejoin the main stream.
Police sources said, Kadti Hura had joined CPI (Maoist) party in 2001 as the militia of Kistaram AC under the South Bastar Division. In 2002, he was promoted to the rank of party member of the same AC and in 2004 he was again promoted to the rank of ACM and was given charge of the supply team of the same AC. In 2014, he left the party due to ill health and joined the RPC/DAKMS in 2022. Kadti has been working as president of DAKMS in his village Burkulanka and actively participated in many Naxal activities.
He was carrying a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head as ACM and Rs 1 lakh as president of DAKMS announced by the Government of Chhattisgarh.
Similarly, Ganga Kartami enrolled himself in the banned CPI (Maoist) party in 2001 as a militia of Konta AC under the South Bastar Division. In 2007, he was promoted to the rank of party member of the same AC. In 2012, he was again promoted to the rank of ACM of the same AC and also took charge of president DAKMS Konta area. In 2019, he left the party due to family problems.
Ganga had been carrying a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh as ACM and Rs 1 lakh as president of DAKMS announced by the Government of Chhattisgarh, sources added.
