Strategic partnerships boost trade and agricultural ties during diplomatic tour.

Prime Minister NarendraModi’s two-day diplomatic mission to Oman has drawn to a close, marking a transformative era for strategic partnerships. This visit, occurring between December 17 and 18, culminated in the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). This monumental pact is designed to dismantle trade barriers and foster a stable environment for mutual investment, effectively unlocking new doors for job creation and industrial growth in both nations.

During the stay, a significant diplomatic milestone was reached when PM Modi was bestowed with "The First Class of the Order of Oman." This prestigious national honor represents the 29th international civilian award received by the Prime Minister, highlighting the deep respect and strengthening bond between India and the Sultanate.

A major pillar of the PM Modi Oman visit was the emphasis on seafaring history and security. Both countries adopted a Joint Vision Document on Maritime Cooperation, focusing on the "blue economy" and regional safety. To celebrate shared history, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed regarding maritime heritage. This agreement will facilitate the exchange of artifacts and expertise, specifically supporting the National Maritime Heritage Complex in Lothal, India.

Food security and agricultural technology also saw significant progress. India and Oman agreed on a framework for cooperation in animal husbandry, fisheries, and millet cultivation. By launching a dedicated Executive Programme for agri-food innovation, the two nations plan to combine India’s scientific expertise with Oman’s agro-climatic conditions to boost research and production.

Furthermore, the education sector received a boost through anMoU focused on Higher Education. This will encourage the exchange of researchers and faculty members, driving applied research to solve modern socio-economic challenges. Having arrived from Jordan and Ethiopia, PM Modi's successful engagement in Muscat ensures that the PM Modi Oman visit stands as a cornerstone for future regional stability and economic integration.
