Kendrapara,Feb 26: A temple consecration ceremony turns fatal in Odisha’s Kendrapara district on Thursday as firecracker explosion amid a procession left scores of devotees critical.

The incident took place at the Gulunagar village in the district this afternoon.

According to sources, a temple consecration ceremony was going on at the Gulunagar village today while a 108-pot procession was being carried out by women and chidren. Meanwhile, fireworks explosion took place amid the procession. As a result, 10 dovotees including 4 minor children became critically burnt who were rushed to the Kendrapara DHH for resuscitation.

The burn-victims are now under treatment while the sorrowful incident created a disturbance in the spiritual program in the vicinity.
