Jharsuguda, Feb 11: At least two persons were killed and over eight others sustained critical injuries after a pick-up van in which they were travelling was hit by a truck in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district this morning.
The identities of the deceased persons are yet to be known.
As per reports, the mishap took place on NH 49 near Juniena village in the district when the passenger-laden pickup van coming from Lakhanpur side was hit by a truck coming from the opposite direction killing two persons on the spot and critically injuring eight others.
Upon getting the information, Lakhanpur police arrived at the spot and seized the bodies for post-mortem.
The injured persons were rushed to Lakhanpur Community Healthcare Center (CHC) for medical treatment. Some of them were later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) as their health condition deteriorated.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
