Mayurbhanj, Mar 13: In a tragic incident, the driver and helper of a truck were killed after the vehicle plunged into a canal in Bangriposi area of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district late last night.
The two deceased were from Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam area.
As per reports, the driver of the goods-laden truck lost control over the wheels and the ill-fated vehicle fell into the 20-foot-deep Subarnarekha Canal on the National Highway No 18 near Jagannath Khunta Chhak in the district.
As a result, the truck’s driver and helper got stuck inside the vehicle and died on the spot.
On getting the information, police along with the Fire Services personnel arrived at the spot and seized the bodies by cutting open the door of the truck.
Subsequently, they were sent for sent for post-mortem.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
