New Delhi, Oct 25: At least four dreaded criminals wanted in multiple cases were injured in two separate encounters conducted by Delhi Police in Mehrauli and Nangloi areas late last night.

As per reports, police confronted Koku Pahadia, a wanted criminal involved in several cases including illegal arms supply, in Mehrauli. Acting on a tip-off about his movements, officers set up a picket on Lado Sarai Smashan Ghat Road around 3:15 a.m. When approached, the accused tried to escape and opened fire on the police team.

During the brief exchange of gunfire, Pahadia sustained a bullet injury to his leg. Two police officers were hit on their bulletproof jackets, while Head Constable Ravindra suffered an injury to his arm.
The accused was subdued and taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, where his condition is stated to be stable.

Police have recovered two pistols, loaded magazines, and four empty cartridges from his possession. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), and further investigation is in progress.

Similarly in Nangloi, a separate police encounter resulted in injuries to three of the four criminals involved. DCP (Outer) Sachin Sharma stated that the group had earlier engaged in a high-speed chase with police two days ago, during which they opened fire but managed to flee.

On Friday, the criminals once again opened fire when confronted by police, prompting retaliatory action. All three injured accused were taken to the hospital for treatment.

It is worth noting that these latest encounters come just days after four wanted criminals — allegedly involved in several extortion-cum-murder cases in Bihar and reportedly planning a major operation ahead of the state Assembly elections — were killed in a police shootout in Rohini.

The deceased were identified as Ranjan Pathak (25), Bimlesh Mahto alias Bimlesh Sahni (25), Manish Pathak (33), and Aman Thakur (21) — all residents of Bihar’s Sitamarhi district.

According to police, they were members of a gang known as ‘Sigma & Company’, which was allegedly involved in multiple cases of extortion-related murders and contract killings.
