Balasore, Dec 27: Rabindra Kumar Aich, former Secretary of Gadapokhari Service Co-operative Society, Khaira Branch under BBCC Bank Ltd., Balasore, has been convicted in a high-profile vigilance corruption case.

The Odisha Vigilance had charged Aich under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(c) and (d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, along with Sections 409, 468, 471, and 477-A of the IPC, for misappropriating ₹7.48 lakh of society funds between 1997-98 and 2000-01 by manipulating official records.

The Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Balasore, sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for three years and imposed a fine of ₹50,000.

Following the conviction, Odisha Vigilance will approach the competent authority to initiate the stoppage of Aich’s pension.
