
Jeypore (Koraput), Oct 19: Train services on Kottavalasa-Kirandul railway line connecting Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh were disrupted after a goods train derailed late Saturday night after hitting a large rock that had fallen onto the tracks.
As per reports, the incident took place around 4 AM between Chimidipali and Tayada stations in Andhra Pradesh, when train number 41204 struck a rock that had fallen onto the KK railway line from a nearby hillside. The impact caused the engine to derail. While no injuries were reported, the accident blocked the route, disrupting both passenger and freight train services.
In response to the incident, the railway department suspended train operations on the affected route. Several passenger trains scheduled for Sunday have been cancelled as authorities work to remove the debris and complete necessary repairs.
Specifically, the Visakhapatnam-Kirandul passenger train (58501) has been cancelled, while the Kirandul-Visakhapatnam passenger train (58502) was halted at Koraput and is being sent back to Kirandul.
