Rayagada, Jan 25: At least two men were killed after a test train engine hit them between Rayagada and Singhpur railway stations late on Wednesday night.
The deceased have been identified as the residents of Debadalguda village in Rayagada district.
Sources said, the deceased were sitting on the third railway track during the construction of the track between Rayagada and Koraput. Tragically, a test train engine hit them near Singhpur, resulting in their immediate demise.
Tension prevailed in the area following their deaths as hundreds of local villagers demonstrated at the spot demanding compensation for the families of the deceased.
Worth mentioning, the Railway Safety Commissioner visited the newly-built railway track on Wednesday to inspect the work.
