Cuttack, Sept 11: Two police personnel of Athagarh police station were suspended after an accused escaped from police custody on September 8. SP of Cuttack Rural suspended both of them for negligence in duty.
The police officials have been identified as ASI Ranjan Sahu and constable Khirod Behera.
According to the report, the accused who has been identified as Biranchi Mantri was detained at Athagarh police station in connection with a bombing case last month. Police managed to nab him one month after the incident occurred. He, however, managed to escape from police custody.
Police said that they have launched a manhunt to nab Mantri. " We have constituted a special team to nab the accused. We are hopeful that Mantri will be nabbed soon," said a police official.
