Two arrested for raping minor girl for 22 days in Cuttack: CP

Cuttack, Oct 15: Chauliaganj police arrested two youths on Wednesday within 24 hours of receiving a complaint that a minor girl was allegedly raped by them for over 22 days in the city, said Police Commissioner Dr Sudhanshu Sarangi. wp:core-embed/twitter {"url":"https://twitter.com/SarangiSudhansu/status/1316451006872313856","type":"rich","providerNameSlug":"twitter","className":""} https://twitter.com/SarangiSudhansu/status/1316451006872313856 /wp:core-embed/twitter The arrested have been identified as Santosh Behera and Rakesh Rout. Both have been booked under several relevant sections and the POCSO Act. Police swung into action after a complaint was filed by the Childline at Chauliaganj police station on October 13. As per sources, the victim was rescued by the police from Gatirout Patana area and was later handed over to Childline officials. She had recently come to Cuttack and was staying with her elder sister. However, after some altercation, she was asked by her sister to return to the village, said sources. While on her way back, she came in contact with an unknown youth who offered her lift to the bus stand. The youth later took her to a house in Gatirout Patana where he along with one of his accomplice allegedly raped her. However, she managed to escape from the spot. Later, the Chauliagang police rescued her and handed over her to Childline officials.
