Angul, Oct 23: An Wounded carcass of a tusker has been found from a farmland near Pallahara forest division in Angul district on Saturday. Forest officials have initiated an investigation to crack the reason behind the pachyderms’ death since it bears a deep wound on its head. Sources said locals of Pallahara spotted the carcass of a tusker in the morning. It was lying in a paddy field near a village. Subsequently, it was informed to the Pallahara forest officials. A team of the forest department rushed to the spot and recovered the elephant’s body. Later, its postmortem was undertaken with the help of a team of veterinarians. The reason behind the tusker’s death will be ascertained after the postmortem, said a forest official.
