New Delhi/Cuttack, Mar 16: President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed grief over the tragic fire at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, which claimed ten lives and left several others injured.

Taking to Twitter, President Murmu said, “Deeply distressed by the loss of lives in the tragic fire incident at a hospital in Cuttack, Odisha. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. I wish a speedy recovery to those injured.”

Prime Minister Modi also condoled the incident on Twitter, stating, “The mishap at a hospital in Cuttack, Odisha, is deeply painful. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF will be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000.”

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire, while relief and support measures are being extended to the affected families.
