Bhubaneswar, November 20: The three-day eviction drive in Salia Sahi, the largest slum in Bhubaneswar, concluded today with the joint efforts of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), and the Works Department.

During the operation, authorities demolished 550 illegal structures that were built on government land.

Over 300 personnel, including four platoons of police and 12 earthmovers, were deployed to clear the encroachments across an 18-acre stretch along the Ganga Nagar-Dhauli road. The clearance will allow for the development of a left parallel road as part of the city's infrastructure plans.

The land in question belongs to the General Administration Department and is needed for public projects such as road widening and the creation of drainage channels.
