Baripada, Sept 7: Police have achieved a major breakthrough in a series of transformer coil thefts by arresting eight members of an alleged theft gang involved in targeting TPNODL transformers.
According to police, the gang was active in the Bahalda, Karanjia and Jashipur police station areas, where its members allegedly targeted electricity transformers and stole valuable components.
Police have recovered a large quantity of stolen materials and equipment allegedly used in the thefts. The seized items include 210 kg of customer wire, 120 kg of copper wire, one cutting machine, three motorcycles and 10 mobile phones.
The arrested accused are currently being interrogated as police investigate the gang's activities and identify other members who may be involved.
Speaking at a press conference, the Rairangpur SP said that further investigation into the case is underway. Police are also working to trace and arrest other individuals allegedly linked to the transformer theft racket.
