Jajpur, August 30: A deeply tragic incident unfolded in Gobandia village under the Balichandrapur Police Station area of Jajpur district, where the sudden death of a 15-year-old girl and the subsequent death of her grandfather has shocked the local community.
According to sources, Ankita Priyadarshini Paramanik, a 15-year-old resident of Gobandia, was bitten by a poisonous snake while she was sleeping on Thursday night. Despite being rushed to the Mahanga Health Center and later to a prominent hospital in Cuttack, she succumbed to the venom and was declared dead by doctors.
The devastating news of Ankita's death was too much for her 72-year-old grandfather, Babaji Parmanik, who reportedly suffered a fatal heart attack upon hearing the news. He too was rushed to the Mahanga Health Center, where he was also declared dead.
In a heart-wrenching gesture, family members of both victims cremated their bodies together on the same pyre, marking a sorrowful and emotional end to the tragic sequence of events.
The villagers have expressed their shock and grief at the loss of two lives in such an unexpected and painful manner.
