Jaleswar, Sept 28: At least four people from Uttar Pradesh lost their lives when a bus carrying 57 tourists overturned on National Highway 16 in Balasore district late last night.
The identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed.
Sources said, a group was en route from Kolkata to Puri for a pilgrimage to Lord Jagannath Temple when the bus veered off the road and rolled down a 20-foot embankment near the Chalanti by-pass, under the Jaleswar police limits here.
In addition to the fatalities, 22 passengers were injured, with 16 reported to be in critical condition. They are currently undergoing treatment at the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital.
Being informed, police reached the spot and started investigation into the matter.
