The accident, which also left 23 people injured, occurred near the Gathia petrol pump in the Bemathara police limits. The victims, who were returning from a family event, were struck by the speeding pick-up van as it crashed into their parked car on the highway. Four of the injured individuals are reported to be in critical condition and have been referred to Raipur AIIMS for further treatment. On being informed, the police reached the scene, recovered the bodies, and have initiated an investigation into the matter.
