Berhampur, April 9: Reinforcing its commitment to community development and youth empowerment, TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL), a joint venture of Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, has felicitated 30 meritorious students from across Southern Odisha by awarding scholarships to support their academic journey.

The initiative reflects the company’s continued focus on nurturing future-ready talent, particularly among economically weaker and underprivileged sections of society.

The selected students are currently pursuing Diploma and ITI courses in different Govt. Polytechnic & ITI Colleges. Under this scholarship initiative TPSODL received 80 applications across southern odisha. Among them 30 students were chosen through a structured selection process based on defined eligibility criteria and thorough scrutiny. The scholarship aims to ease financial constraints and encourage students to pursue technical education with confidence.

TPSODL also recognized 33 women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) who successfully completed a tailoring training program at the company’s Anokha Dhaga Centre. The participants were awarded certificates, marking their readiness to pursue livelihood opportunities independently and contribute to their families’ economic well-being.

Speaking on the occasion, Amit Kumar Garg, CEO, TPSODL, said; “We are undertaking multiple initiatives through our CSR programs. Under this scholarship initiative, we feel proud that students are benefitting meaningfully. The selected students represent the future of India, and I congratulate each one of them. We remain committed to serving our communities, especially at the last mile. Through initiatives like tailoring training, we are also creating employment opportunities and aiming to empower women.”

Sunil Singh, Director, TPSODL, said; “I congratulate all the students. You are at a young and important stage of life. In today’s digital era, there are many distractions, but your dedication has brought you here. Your first priority should be your health, followed by your education. We are proud to serve the community and support your aspirations.”

Among the beneficiaries, Debanshu Panda (20), a second-year ITI student in the electrician trade at Berhampur Government ITI, shared his experience; “I lost my parents during COVID. I am currently pursuing ITI, and this scholarship will support my education. Thank you, TPSODL.”

Through such initiatives, TPSODL continues to demonstrate its dedication to inclusive growth by investing in education, skill development, and women empowerment. The company’s CSR efforts aim to create sustainable impact by enabling individuals to become self-reliant and contribute positively to society.
