Bhubaneswar: Sri Lanka registered a convincing 6-wicket victory over Nepal in a Group League match of the ADCA T20I Asia Cup at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack, on Saturday, in a match that lasted 93 minutes.

Winning the toss, Nepal chose to bat first but struggled against a disciplined Sri Lankan bowling attack and were bowled out for 61 runs in 19.3 overs. The standout performer was Gihan Lasidu De Silva, who delivered a match-winning spell of 4 overs, 1 maiden, 9 runs, and 4 wickets, earning him the Player of the Match award. In reply, Sri Lanka chased down the target, scoring 64 for 4 in 10.3 overs to seal the win.

The Nepal captain admitted that the low total and weak fielding cost his team the match, stating that more practice is needed and improvements will be seen in the next game. The Sri Lanka captain said that after their loss to India, the team regrouped and planned better, adding that it was a collective team effort, while also noting that despite losing four wickets in the chase, the side would work harder on their game, especially spin bowling, which he described as crucial in the tournament.

The encounter was graced by chief guests Dr. Shami Salim, Professor and Neurosurgeon, Mokim Khan, veteran national-level football player, Sumit Jain, President of ADCA & IDCA and Sagarkanta Senapati, General Secretary of the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA).
