Bhubaneswar, November 21: The State Cabinet led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday approved enhancement of pre and post matric scholarship amount for SC and ST students residing in hostels under the Mukhya Mantri Medhabi Chatra Protshan Yojana.

As per the Cabinet brief, the pre- matric Scholarship rate are enhanced from Rs 10,500 to Rs 16,000 for a boy boarder and from Rs 11,000 to Rs 17,000 for a girl boarders per annum (10 months), respectively.

The decision of enhancement of scholarship was taken considering the rise in food and non-food items in the State.

These rates are extended from Shishu Vatika to Class-X ST/SC boarders residing in hostels under the administrative control of ST & SC Development, Mionrities & Backward Classes Welfare Department and School & Mass Education Department as well as special ST/SC Hostels.

For all boarders residing in ANWESHA hostels, the Pre-MS rates has been enhanced from Rs 11,000 to Rs 17,000 per annum (10 months). Similarly, post Matric scholarship i.e. mess management cost provided to ST/SC boarder students of ST & SC Development, M &BCW Department-run Higher Secondary Schools only (Xl-XII) has also been enhanced from Rs 11,000 to 16,000 for a boy boarder and Rs 17,000 for a girl boarder per annum.

The revised rates will be applicable December 1.
