Nuapada, Aug 9: In a distressing incident reported from Maniguda village under Komna block in Nuapada district, a one-and-a-half-year-old child sustained serious burn injuries after hot dal (lentil soup) spilled on him.

The child, identified as Purab Singh Thakur, son of Kripasindhu Thakur, was playing near the kitchen on Saturday morning when the accident occurred. According to sources, his mother had placed a pot of dal on the stove and stepped away briefly to fetch something from inside the house. During this time, the toddler accidentally tugged at the pot, causing it to tip over and spill the boiling contents onto his body.
Hearing the child’s screams, the mother rushed to the scene, immediately poured cold water over the burns, and transported him to the Nuapada District Headquarters Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Hospital authorities have confirmed that the child is currently in stable condition. The incident has raised concerns over child safety in households, especially around kitchens.
