Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Para-swimming team achieved a remarkable milestone at the 25th National Para Swimming Championship-2025, securing an impressive 39 medals including 8 gold, 18 silver and 13 bronze medals at Hyderabad. Total 628 swimmers from 28 states across the country and Karnataka crowned the overall champion.

The athletes from Odisha displayed exceptional talent, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the championship, reinforcing the state’s growing presence in India’s para sports landscape. Their medal-winning performances highlight years of dedication and the effectiveness of the structured training programs supported by the state.

A total of 32 para swimmers represented Odisha at the championship. To ensure peak performance, the Para Sports Association of Odisha organized a 15-day intensive training camp at the Kalinga Stadium HPC Swimming Pool, where athletes trained together under expert Coach Sunita Bahidar and Purna Chandra Sethi guidance. This preparation played a crucial role in their success at the national level.

Officials from the Para Sports Association of Odisha expressed immense pride in the team’s achievements. Odisha’s swimmers competed shoulder-to-shoulder with the nation’s best, proving their resilience and potential as emerging stars in para swimming.

Sunil Pradhan, Secretary of the Para Sports Association of Odisha, stated that this year our team has delivered an outstanding performance. We won a total of 39 medals. Last year, we had secured 27 medals, and this time our athletes have performed even better.
