Puri, Sept 24: Purity of ghee used at Puri Jagannath Temple in Odisha will be tested.
The Puri District Administration and Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) decided it in a committe meeting held on Tuesday following the Tirupati Temple laddu row hurt the sentiments of the devotees across the nation.
Briefing in this connection, SJTA Administrator and Puri district Collector Siddharth Shankar Swain said, the temple administration will discusss with the OMFED authorities to ensure good quality and purity of the ghee used in preparing the Mahaprasad (Kudua) and dry Mahaprasad.

Underlining the utility of Ghee, Swain said it is used for candling diyas, preparing Kotha Bhog and other ordered Anna Mahaprasad bhogs cooked inside the temple round the year. However, he ruled out receiving any complaint regarding use of substandard and adulterated ghee in the Prasads.
The SJTA has kept a close eye on the quality of the ghee supplied to the temple and used in the Mahaprasad. Stern action will be initiated on the offenders if complaints are raised in this connection, he added.
