Bhubaneswar/Kendrapara, October 5: With the Gajalaxmi Puja festival set for October 7, 2025, authorities are taking extensive steps to ensure the event is celebrated peacefully and safely.
On Sunday, DIG of Central Range, Dr. Satyajit Naik, along with the Kendrapara SP, reviewed the arrangements and issued crucial instructions aimed at maintaining law and order during the festival.
Dr. Naik emphasized the need for rigorous actions against illegal activities, including raids to curb the sale of illicit liquor, gambling, and other unlawful practices. He also underscored the importance of a strong police presence at puja pandals and cultural events. Furthermore, effective traffic management will be prioritized to avoid congestion, accidents, and injuries. CCTV cameras will be installed, and fire safety protocols will be strictly implemented.
The police will also focus on monitoring sensitive areas and ensuring that processions passing through minority neighborhoods are well-regulated. Additionally, they will brief puja committee members and participants to avoid any actions or slogans that could potentially offend religious sentiments.
A major concern for Dr. Naik is the prevention of illegal fundraising, particularly the unauthorized collection of chanda. He directed the police to take swift action against violators and ensure measures are in place to prevent eve-teasing, pickpocketing, and other criminal activities. The authorities will also tackle issues like illegal parking and unapproved parking fees.
To assist in crowd and traffic management, Dr. Naik encouraged puja committees to recruit volunteers to work alongside the police.
Dr. Naik appealed to citizens, puja committees, and event organizers to cooperate with law enforcement and follow the guidelines, ensuring the festival is celebrated in a safe and joyous manner.
