Nuapada, Sep 8: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Friday apprehended Pranabahdhu Dandasena, a Gram Rojgar Sevak (GRS) of Sunarisikuan Gram Panchayat and another person Kamalakanta Pradhan for allegedly demanding and receiving bribe from a complainant.
Based on reliable information, vigilance conducted a raid and arrested Dandasena while accepting the bribe amount of Rs 10,000 from a complainant through Pradhan to generate muster roll in favour of the beneficiaries under MGNREG scheme and for facilitating release of pending balance payment in connection with a land development work.
The entire bribe money has been recovered seized.
In this connection, Koraput Vigilance PS Case No.27/2023 U/s 7PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused persons Dandasena and Pradhan.
Similarly, Debiprasad Mohanty, Superintendent Godown of Nimapara in Puri district was intercepted by a team of Odisha Vigilance while he was waiting for bus at Nimapara and cash Rs.2.14 Lakh (suspected ill-gotten cash) was found in his possession. Further, during personal search Rs 59,610 were recovered from him. Following this, during house search at his residential quarter at Warehouse Colony in Bhubaneswar Rs 1,80,000 cash recovered.Total cash recovered comes to Rs 4,53,610.
As Mohanty could not account for satisfactorily, the amount was recovered from him and seized.
Following the interception, simultaneous searches are being carried out at 3 locations of Mohanty from DA angle. He is being examined to ascertain the source of funds.
