Balasore, June 18: Delhi police on Tuesday apprehended three youths from Soro in Odisha’s Balasore district in connection with a theft in the house of a journalist in Delhi.
The accused have been identified as Madan Das of Budei and Prafulla Das of Raghunathpur and another one from Machada village under Khaira police limits in Balasore district.
According to reports, on May 29, the trio absconded with gold and diamond ornaments valued at Rs 1.5 crore from the residence of journalist Sidharth Gautam Mohanty in New Friends Colony, Delhi. One of the accused, Madan Mohan had previously worked at the journalist's house.
Following a complaint filed by the journalist, Delhi Police apprehended the trio in Soro after a 13-day search. During the arrest, authorities confiscated Rs 4 lakh in cash along with gold and diamond ornaments estimated to be worth approximately Rs 78 lakh. Sources mentioned that the accused had allegedly sold some of the stolen jewelry to individuals in Nilagiri and Basudevpur.
