Sukma (Chhattisgarh), June 1: The security forces apprehended three Maoists collectively carrying a bounty of Rs 21 lakh in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district.
The arrested Maoists have been identified as Dodi Podia (36), Dodi Pandu (18), and Dodi Nandu (28). While Podia and Pandu carried a reward of Rs 8 lakh for their capture, Nandu had a bounty of Rs 5 lakh on his head. They were arrested from their native village of Gondpalli, located within the jurisdiction of Jagargunda police station.
A joint team comprising personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force’s 165th battalion and local police took them into custody following their arrests. The trio is believed to be involved in the murder of Dodi Arjun, a Shiksha Doot (temporary visiting teacher), which took place in the district on September 13 last year.
According to reports, Maoists brutally attacked and strangled Arjun, possibly because they suspected him of being a police informer.
In another development, security forces recently discovered a hidden stash of explosives in the forests of Botetong. Acting on tips about Maoist activity in the area, a joint operation was carried out by the district force and the CoBRA 203 battalion. The operation resulted in the recovery of a large amount of ammunition and explosives, according to a police official.
