Balasore, May 30: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Friday arrested three individuals including two minors from West Bengal for allegedly pelting stones at moving trains in the Kharagpur division of South Eastern Railways.
Among the accused is Satyanaray Sahu, 26, a resident of Haldipada under Basta police station limits in Odisha. He was arrested alongside two juveniles from West Bengal, officials confirmed.
The trio reportedly targeted the Vande Bharat Express and Dhauli Express while the trains were operating on the Howrah–Puri route. Sahu has been booked under Section 153 of the Railway Act, 1989, which pertains to endangering the safety of railway passengers.
According to RPF officials, Sahu admitted to being a habitual offender, involved in theft and mobile phone snatching. His alleged method included using a stick or stone to distract or injure passengers standing near train doors before making off with their belongings.
The two juveniles were apprehended near Hijli station in West Bengal.
