Baripada, Sept 20: At least three people died and 20 others have been hospitalised after participating in a ritual feast in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha.
The deceased have been identified as Rajakishore Nayak of Alabandha village, Nidrabati Nayak of Karanjia and a minor boy of Chauliasholo.
According to reports, scores of people had attended a ritual feast in Alabandha Bathudi Sahi of Gudialbandha Panchayat under Badasahi police limits of Baripada on September 16.
However, after returning home, several people started complaining diarrohea and stomach pain. Initially 11 patients were admitted to the local community health centre and 10 more shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital today.
Following the incident, the Health Department has sent two teams to the village to investigate and take necessary measures.
“I haven't received any reports of deaths related to diarrhea. So far, 21 villagers have been admitted to the hospital. We have dispatched two teams to the village to assess the situation and implement necessary measures,” said Ghasiram Murmu, District Public Health Officer.
