 The Election Commission of India has implemented stringent security measures to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process and ensure a transparent and fair voting environment. Approximately 18.5 lakh polling officials have been stationed across 1.85 lakh polling stations to facilitate voting for over 17.24 crore eligible voters, comprising 8.85 crore males and 8.39 crore females.

With over 1,300 candidates, including 120 women, contesting in this phase, notable contenders include Union Home Minister Amit Shah from Gandhinagar (Gujarat), Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia from Guna (Madhya Pradesh), Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury from Baharampur (West Bengal), former cricketer Yusuf Pathan as his Trinamool Congress rival, Congress heavyweight Digvijaya Singh from Rajgarh (Madhya Pradesh), Samajwadi Party's Dimple Yadav from Mainpuri (Uttar Pradesh), Aditya Yadav from Budaun (Uttar Pradesh), and NCP-SP's Supriya Sule facing her sister-in-law Sunetra Pawar in Baramati (Maharashtra), among others.

This phase of polling will mark the halfway point in the Lok Sabha elections and conclude the electoral process in Assam, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. Additionally, polling will take place in five seats of Bihar, five in West Bengal, 10 in Uttar Pradesh, nine in Madhya Pradesh, and 11 in Maharashtra.

While 94 seats were originally scheduled for the third phase, polling in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag-Rajouri constituency was rescheduled for the sixth phase. Furthermore, polling in Gujarat's Surat was canceled as the BJP candidate was elected unopposed. However, Madhya Pradesh's Betul, where polling was postponed due to the demise of the BSP candidate, has been included in this phase.
