Baripada, Oct 28: A theft accused allegedly attacked the Inspector-In-Charge (IIC) of Bisoi police station in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district with a blade.
The woman cop, identified as Mini Bhoi, sustained multiple injuries to her neck, hand and other body parts in the attack.
Though the attack took place on October 26, it came to fore after a video of the incident surfaced on Friday.
As per reports, money from a donation box in a temple in Bisoi area was stolen a few days back. Following a complaint by the temple’s priest, police had arrested one Sushant Deo on October 26.
Later in the day, IIC Mini Bhoi was alone at the police station when Sushant, who was carrying a blade with him, attacked her all of a sudden.
However, the exact reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained.
Sources said several theft cases are pending against the accused.
A case has been registered against the accused in connection with the attack and further investigation into the matter is underway, said the police.
