Ahmedabad, June 13: “The door beside me broke open following a violent crash. I found a slit to escape from wreckage and saved myself from the deadly blaze, said the lone survivor of Ahmedabad Plane Crash that shook the nation on Thursday.
Vishwash Kumar Ramesh who miraculously saved himself from death, jumping off the crashed plane which was on the blaze detailed his utmost struggle while he saw others onboard the flight were charred alive.
Recalling the deadly scene, Ramesh said that all he witnessed minutes after the hit, were the exploding sounds, flames and alarms of passengers & crew members.
Briefing the incident, Vishwash recalled, the Air India flight took off in time while everything was almost OK. However, after 5-10 seconds in the air, we felt as if the plane engine was stuck and nothing worked normally. Following this, green and white lights were turned on at once and the flight seemed floating with no balance. A few minutes to it, the plane violently crashed into a building.
“I don’t know about others, but the place I was sitting, that portion landed on the ground floor. The side where I was sitting wasn’t towards any wall. As soon as my door broke open, I saw there was some safe space, and then I tried to get out,” recalled Ramesh while speaking to reporters in the Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad.
Elaborating the mysery of the co-passengers, cabin crew members and the Captains, he continued, “The building wall on the opposite side came as a barrier for all, to escape from the fire. Before that, most of the passengers on that side were critically wounded during the hit as the plane had crashed completely on that side, It’s why nobody could get out of danger and fully charred to death.
As the spark advanced towards the door, I sprang upon the emergency door to save my left hand from the blaze, and jumped out of the debris, he added.
