Cuttack, Dec 4: The 150th birth anniversary of the 'Iron Man of India', Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, along with the 150th anniversary of the national song Vande Mataram, was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Jawaharlal Nehru Mahavidyalaya in Mahanga, Cuttack district. The event included a mass version of the national anthem and a pledge to uphold the values of patriotism and national integrity.

A key highlight of the event was the collective oath-taking ceremony where participants pledged to dedicate themselves to the service of the nation, reflecting the spirit of unity and nationalism. This was followed by a Unity March, organized by the college, which started from Jawaharlal Nehru Mahavidyalaya and covered a distance of 4 km, culminating at the Kotapada Mini Stadium.

In a poignant moment, the celebration also included the commemoration of the birth anniversary of the renowned freedom fighter Ramadevi, with a tribute paid to her for her significant contributions to India's struggle for independence.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Mahanga MLA, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), and prominent film actress and singer Sivani Sangita.
