Patna, Oct 19: High drama erupted outside the residence of RJD president Lalu Prasad on Sunday after a party ticket aspirant, Madan Sah, created a scene upon being denied a nomination for the upcoming Bihar elections.

Sah, who had contested from the Madhuban constituency in 2020 and narrowly lost to the BJP candidate, broke down in tears, tore his clothes, and rolled on the road in protest. Videos of his outburst have since gone viral on social media.

Claiming long association with the Rashtriya Janata Dal, Sah alleged that he was asked to pay ₹2.70 crore for a party ticket.

“I was asked to cough up ₹2.70 crore. I managed by postponing the weddings of my children. Now I am finished. At least they should return my money,” he said.

In his emotional protest, Sah accused senior party leaders of betrayal and favoritism.

“They will not form the government. Tejashwi is very arrogant; he doesn’t meet people. Tickets are being sold—Sanjay Yadav is behind all this. I have come here to die. Lalu Yadav is my guru. He had promised me a ticket, but they gave it to Santosh Kushwaha, a BJP agent,” he shouted while sitting on the road.

Sah also claimed that both Lalu Prasad and Tejashwi Yadav had personally assured him of a ticket after a survey conducted in 2020 showed his strong support among the Teli community.

“Lalu ji called me to Ranchi and got a survey done. They told me I could defeat Randhir Singh from Madhuban. I have been working for the party since the 1990s. I even sold my land for this,” he said.

Party leaders have so far refrained from commenting on the allegation that money was demanded in exchange for the ticket.

The deadline for filing nomination papers ends on Monday. It remains unclear whether the RJD will contest the Madhuban seat or leave it to one of its alliance partners.
