Baripada, Mar 27: Tension flared up at ‘Anwesha Hostel’ of Udala in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, after a class-IX student found hanging in her room on Wednesday.
Following the student's death at the hostel, parents raised serious concerns about the safety of their children, claiming that the hostel's security measures were inadequate. The hostel, which accommodates 170 students, experienced a mass exodus, with more than half of the inmates leaving suddenly that same night.
According to the report, a class- Ix student of the hostel was found hanging in her room Baripada on Wednesday.
A forensic team, while conducting an investigation, found a suicide note in which she mentioned her romantic relationship. In the note, she also made it clear that no one, including the hostel authorities, was to blame for her death.
However, the deceased student’s family claimed that they were unaware of the suicide note.
"Parents had left their daughter here with the hope that she would do well in the future, but she ended up committing suicide. It's no longer possible for us to leave our children here. I believe the hostel lacks adequate safety measures, so we've decided to take our children back home," said Truptimanjari Patra, mother of a student.
