New Delhi, Dec 2: A moderate earthquake measuring 4.2 in magnitude struck the Bay of Bengal at 7:26 IST today, as reported by the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Bay of Bengal, but there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

According to the NCS, the earthquake was felt in nearby coastal regions, though it is not expected to cause significant disruptions. The NCS continues to monitor seismic activity in the area.

Meanwhile, another earthquake with a magnitude of 3.9 struck Tajikistan on Tuesday, at 4:35 IST. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 75 kilometers and was recorded near the coordinates of latitude 37.15 N and longitude 72.43 E. While the earthquake's magnitude was relatively low, no casualties or damage reports have been confirmed yet from the region.

In a recent update, the NCS also highlighted an earthquake of magnitude 4.2 that struck Tajikistan on November 26, 2025, at a depth of 90 kilometers. The previous tremor occurred at 15:18 IST and was located near the coordinates of latitude 38.10 N and longitude 73.51 E. Again, no significant impacts have been reported from this earthquake.

Earthquakes are not uncommon in both the Bay of Bengal region and Tajikistan, which are part of seismically active zones. Authorities continue to keep a close watch on seismic activity in these regions.
