Hyderabad, July 19: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has allowed commercial establishments across the state to remain open until 4 a.m. on Monday to facilitate public viewing of the FIFA World Cup final. The state government will also organise a live screening of the match at People's Plaza in Hyderabad.

Announcing the decision on X, Revanth Reddy, a self-proclaimed football enthusiast, expressed his dream of seeing India play and eventually host a FIFA World Cup, adding that many future stars could emerge from Telangana. He also recalled bringing Lionel Messi to Hyderabad during the football legend's 2025 India tour.

The Chief Minister's Office highlighted that Revanth Reddy is the only Chief Minister to have shared the football field with Messi during an exhibition match.

Argentina, led by Lionel Messi, will face Spain in the FIFA World Cup final on Sunday (local time), with the defending champions aiming to retain the title. Spain, seeking its first World Cup triumph since 2010, enters the final with one of the tournament's strongest defensive records.
