Bhubaneswar, Nov 12: The much-awaited State-level children’s festival "Mahak" was inaugurated on Tuesday at Kalinga Stadium, marking the beginning of a vibrant 5-day celebration of young talent. Organized by the Departments of Women and Child Development (WCD), Mission Shakti, and the Odisha State Child Protection Society, the festival brings together over 500 children from across the state.

Throughout the event, children will showcase their skills in a variety of competitions, including solo singing, group dance, debate, painting, and quiz contests. The festival is a reflection of Odisha’s deep-rooted belief that every child deserves an opportunity to shine and express their creativity.

On the inaugural day, several dignitaries attended the event, including Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, Minister of Law, Works, and Excise Prithiviraj Harichandan, Principal Secretary of WCD Shubha Sarma, Director of ICDS Monisha Banerjee, and Additional Secretary of WCD Krutibas Rout, among others. The leaders shared their thoughts on the importance of nurturing young talent, emphasizing that each child represents a promise for Odisha’s brighter future. They encouraged the children to dream big and use their talents to drive positive change in society.

During the event, a Coffee Table Book on "Mission Vatsalya" was unveiled, highlighting Odisha’s transformative journey in child protection. A video showcasing the achievements of "Mission Vatsalya" beneficiaries was also screened, underlining the state's commitment to the well-being and future of its children.
