New Delhi, June 10: Chief Justice of India (CJI) B R Gavai has cautioned that while technology holds immense promise, it is a "double-edged sword" that should be used to strengthen judicial functions, not substitute the decision-making process.
Addressing an international symposium titled "The Role of Technology to Improve Access to Justice" at the University of Cambridge on June 9, CJI Gavai highlighted the critical role of technological innovations in transforming access to justice, especially in a large, diverse, and complex country like India.
He noted that the Indian judiciary has embraced technology in its efforts to make justice more inclusive and efficient. However, he stressed that such advancements must serve as tools to support the judiciary rather than override human judgment.
