Visakhapatnam, Feb 5: Team India defeated England by 106 runs in the Second Test at Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy Stadium, here on Monday.
The five-Test series is now levelled 1-1, with both sides sharing honours with one victory each. Ben Stokes's led England had earlier won the Hyderabad Test by 28 runs.
Chasing a victory target of 399, England fought valiantly and with their 'Bazball' approach at one stage, looked like clinching victory from the jaws of defeat. But the hosts did well to hold their nerves and grab wickets at regular intervals.
The two seasoned Indian campaigners, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin shared England's 6 crucial second innings wickets to fashion India's remarkable win.
Player of- he Match Bumrah claimed 9 wickets in the match giving away only 91 runs. He scalped 6 in the first and 3 in the second. Ashwin though, was wicket-less in the first innings but finished 3/72 in his 18 overs effort in the second.
India's first innings double ton hero Yashasvi Jaiswal (209 in 290 balls) and second innings centurion Shubman Gill (104 in 147 balls) too played crucial roles in the series leveller.
The Third Test will begin in Rajkot on February 15.
