Teacher dead as iron flag pole touches electric line before Independence Day in Baleshwar

A physical education teacher died after an iron pole being carried for Independence Day celebrations came into contact with an overhead power line in Odisha’s Balasore district on Saturday.

Bhubaneswar, August 15: A physical education teacher died after an iron pole being carried for Independence Day celebrations came into contact with an overhead power line in Odisha’s Balasore district on Saturday.

The deceased, Priyabrata Behera, was helping install a flagpole in a Private School in Simulia when the accident occurred. Three students also suffered electric shocks and were hospitalised.

In a similar incident in Nabarangpur, 26-year-old Chandan Behera died after allegedly touching an 11 kV power line while carrying an iron pole for a flag-hoisting ceremony.
