Puri, Jan 15: Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has created a stunning sand sculpture of a turtle at Besant Beach, drawing attention to the devastating effects of plastic pollution on marine life.

In a post on his X account, Pattnaik shared, “When plastic enters the sea, life suffers. My sand art at Besant Beach speaks for the voiceless.”

The artwork depicts a turtle struggling with plastic debris and bottles trapped within its body, highlighting the urgent need to tackle plastic waste and its harmful impact on ocean life.

This is not the first time Pattnaik has used his art to highlight environmental issues. In 2018, he constructed a massive 55-foot long, 30-foot wide sand sculpture of a turtle, using 30 tonnes of sand and coloured sand, to spread the message “Beat Plastic Pollution.”

His continued efforts to raise awareness about plastic pollution have earned praise from environmentalists and online communities, who commend his creative approach to addressing one of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges.

Pattnaik’s sand art serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of protecting marine ecosystems and reducing plastic waste for a healthier planet.
