Chennai, Mar 30: Renowned Tamil actor Daniel Balaji, known for his memorable roles in blockbuster films like 'Bigil' and 'Bairavaa' alongside superstar Vijay Thalapathy, has tragically passed away at the age of 48 due to a cardiac arrest.
Sources said, Daniel experienced severe chest pain and was immediately taken to Chennai's Kottvakam Hospital. Despite receiving immediate medical attention, he succumbed to his condition during treatment.
The funeral arrangements are currently underway, with plans to lay him to rest at his residence in Purasaiwalkam, as stated in the report. Apart from his remarkable performances in 'Bigil' and 'Bairavaa', Daniel Balaji also left an indelible mark with his portrayal in Goutham Vasudev Menon’s 'Kaakha Kaakha', sharing the screen with Tamil superstar Suriya.
Talking about his career, Balaji started off as a unit production manager on the sets of Kamal Haasan’s unfinished Indian historical drama ‘Marudhanayagam’. Subsequently, he ventured into the realm of television, where he worked at a soap opera ‘Chitthi’, marking his initial foray into the silver screen.
His career took a significant leap forward when he portrayed the antagonist 'Amudhan' in Kamal Haasan’s acclaimed film, ‘Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu’.
Beyond the confines of Tamil cinema, Balaji also made notable strides in Malayalam cinema. He made his debut in the industry with a role in Mammootty’s ‘Black’ and further showcased his talent as the primary antagonist in Mohanlal’s ‘Bhagavan’ and Mammootty’s ‘Daddy Cool’.
