Dhenkanal, April 26: At least 50 passengers onboard were luckily rescued from a bus in Dhenkanal on Friday after it caught fire all of a sudden.
The private Bus named ‘Priyanshu’ was absolutely devoured by the flames near Anand Nagar in Dhenkanal in the afternoon.
Sources said the Priyanshu Bus which runs from Talcher-Cuttack on a regular basis, left for Cuttack in the morning with its full capacity. Meanwhile, a fire broke out in the bus near Anand Nagar while it was running on NH 55. Being aware of the mishap, the crew members stopped the vehicle and ensured emergency exit of all the passengers.
On being informed, fire services wing rushed to the spot to control the flame. However, the bus was extensively damaged despite interventions of the fire services personnel.
Reason behind the fire mishap is yet to be ascertained.
