Bhubaneswar, Nov 18: The Odisha government has decided to create four new tehsils in an effort to improve governance and enhance service delivery at the grassroots.

With these additions, the total number of tehsils in the state will rise from 317 to 321.

The Revenue and Disaster Management Department has issued formal communications to the Collectors of three districts to begin the process of setting up these new administrative units.

According to the proposal, two of the new tehsils will come up in Bhubaneswar, while Cuttack and Sambalpur districts will each get one.

District Collectors have been asked to work out the necessary modalities for establishing the new tehsils. Additionally, the respective Revenue Divisional Commissioners (RDCs) have been instructed to start the required procedures within seven days.
