Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s two handball players Swastik Mahaprasad Pati, Suprajit Behera and coach Gouri Sankar Mishra joined national squad for the 1st Asian Men’s U-17 Handball Championship is scheduled to be held at Amman, Jordan from 15-25 September 2025.

This championship marks the inaugural continental competition for the U-17 men’s category in Asia. It will also serve as a qualification tournament for the 1st IHF Men’s U-17 Handball World Championship, scheduled to take place in the Kingdom of Morocco from 24th October to 1st November 2025. The top two (2) teams from the Asian Championship will qualify for the World Championship.

Handball Association President Biplab Choudhury, Secretary Manas Kumar Singh, Treasurer Sitendranath Das and Bhubaneswar secretary Prasant Kumar Nayak wished good luck to the teams as well as the Odisha players and coach.

Group A : Kuwait, Bahrain, Hong Kong–China

Group B : Saudi Arabia, Qatar, P R China

Group C : Jordan, Chinese Taipei, India, Syria

Group D : Republic of Korea, I R Iran, Uzbekistan, Maldives, Syria
