Pallikele (Sri Lanka), July 31: Suryakumar Yadav can be very unassuming as a batsman in a T20 game. Because he can surprise the opposition with his powerful hits to every corner of the park. Rightly, he is called Mr 360 degree for his rare ability.
But how good can he be innovative as a captain too?
Well, with Gautam Gambhir as the Head Coach in the dugout, Suryakumar definitely enjoys that extra caution, when it comes to innovative ideas as a skipper.
On Tuesday in the final T20I against hosts Sri Lanka, when Charith Asalanka's men were almost comfortably inching towards the 138-run target, Suryakumar asked Rinku Singh to bowl the 19th over and he himself bowled the 20th over.
Those two overs were crucial in limiting Lanka to the equal score of 137 in the allotted 20 overs. Remind you, India were 137/9 in 20 overs and Lanka too managed 137/8 in 20 overs.
The match was dragged to Super Over, and India eventually clinched the three-match T20I series 3-0.
That was for sure, skipper Suryakumar, the unassuming, unpredictable and out of the box thinking leader, who surprised the Lankans.
